  • This fascinating symmetrical scale was is often used in jazz and jazzrock improvisation. It's no surprise that it is featured on the "Allan Holdsworth top 10" scales list. 
  • French composer Olivier Messiaen in his work "The Technique of my Musical Language", presented this scale as the second of seven "Modes of Limited Transposition" (Wikipedia). Thus, it may be referred to as the 'M2'.
  • Formula: 1 - b2 - b3 - 3 - #4 - 5 - 6 - b7
  • Use this scale on the G7 chord.
  • Practice with the G7 backing tracks.
